Crab Cakes & Football, That’s What Copper Canyon Grill Does

A DC Dining-Out Discovery of the Year

Hey Friends! I ate all that Copper Canyon Grill – Silver Spring has to offer so that you don’t have to, but you’ll probably WANT to.  Our meal was pretty damn tasty, and you will certainly not walk away hungry!

The cozy decor, friendly service, and menu variety creates an inviting atmosphere for anyone walking in from downtown Silver Spring.

We split an entrée salad to start, which they brought on two separate plates – something I LOVE – and then moved on to the filet mignon and rack of ribs entrées for our main course. We couldn’t help but have order envy afterward voicing our concerns about wanting to also try the crab cakes. Our server jumped right to our aid by mentioning we could add a crab cake to each entrée! Without hesitation, we did just that.

The salad was fresh and palate pleasing, with no shortage of bacon crumbles. I maybe would’ve preferred a chilled plate to a warm one, but I still managed to eat the entire thing.

I maybe had a eyes larger than the belly moment by ordering the full rack of ribs, but they made for a delicious lunch the next day.  They were smoky and tender, and those fries never stood a chance.

The filet was super tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare, but the Cabernet sauce and bleu cheese butter really just overpowered the meat for me.  My dining companion loved it, though, so what do I know?

The piece de resistance, though?! THE CRAB CAKES. GUYS! These jumbo lump crab cakes were perfection!

Tons of lump crab made up baseball sized cakes, with little to no filler.  They were lightly seasoned and then gently broiled. The sweetness of the crab really did shine on the plate, and as a Maryland girl, I know my crab cakes.  I was seriously impressed, and highly recommend you try the crab cakes at Copper Canyon.

This key lime pie was also delicious AF. The homemade, thick as can be, whipped cream was just as good as the pie!  We also had homemade rocky road ice cream and it ended our experience on the sweetest note!

I probably would not have explored Copper Canyon for dinner before this experience, but I will definitely be back…especially for those crab cakes!
