A Reason to Cross the River: Evening Star Cafe

I’m going to keep this short simple: VIRGINIA IS NOT THAT FAR AWAY. Hop in an uber, grab a car, or metro across the river (heck you can even bike), and you will expand your dining options ten-fold…And then you will be disappointed that you didn’t do it sooner.

Of the places you must try, Evening Star is on top of the list. Situated in cozy Del Ray, this place just oozes adorable. I recently went for brunch, and had an awesome time. Fun twists on class drinks, comfy booths, and of course, some top notch food, made for a great meal. In the words of the Beastie Boys, Check-ch-check-check-check-ch-check it out.

Toffee Cinnamon Buns, great way to start the meal
Blood Orange Mimosa. Believe it or not, it has CHOCOLATE bitters in it, and it’s great!
Evening Star Bloody Mary. Who can say no to bacon and grilled cheese toppings?
Duck Hash. Because, DUCK.
Fried Chicken and Waffles, Yogurt Bowl, and Stone Ground Grits with Cheese.

Evening Star is open for dinner Monday-Thursday from 5:30-9:30pm, Friday-Saturday 5:30-10:00pm, and Sundays 5:30-9:00pm. They are open for brunch Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am-2:30pm. Make sure you get there early, because they don’t take reservations for brunch.
