Eat This Now: Aperto

You may know Chef Luigi from his street level gem, Al Tiramisu, just off Dupont Circle. A place frequented by George Cloney who insists he must always go here when in town.

Recently, Chef Luigi expanded his operations and opened a second restaurant, Aperto, in the formerly Primi Piatti location not too far from the White House and The George Washington University. This place is great. They have small patio seating, expansive inside, private rooms, an approachable wine list (featuring an Opus One if you so incline) and PHENOMENAL service. Honestly the service was above and beyond. Prompt but not rushing, polite, explanatory, patient; everything was spot on.

The food is amazing. We didn’t have a chance to try much, but as far as we’re concerned, if there is cacio e pepe on the menu and it’s delicious, then the place is a winner. Aperto’s version is super creamy, fresh, salty Parmesan sticks to the perfectly cooked, housemade al dente pasta, while fresh cracked pepper and butter tie it all together.

So go eat this now, and get the lobster pasta special too while they still have it.
