Take a seaside retreat to Georgetown for the upcoming holiday of love at Dyllan’s Raw Bar Grill, located along the historic C&O Canal in Georgetown. They are featuring a four-course Valentine’s Day menu priced at $85 per person. It will be available from 5-11pm on Thursday, February 14. Prepared by Chef de Cuisine Darren Hendry, the menu showcases regional American cuisine, which centers around its modern raw bar. The decor itself will make you feel like you’re tucked into a jewel box with vibrant colors and modern accents that delight your eyes.
If you can’t make it for V-Day, or you’d like to celebrate another day, take a glimpse at the tinned fishes to start. The tinned mackerel paired with olive butter is easily my favorite bite of 2019 so far. Meaty, briny, buttery slathered on a coin of bread is indulgently satisfying with a few cocktails.
If tinned fish isn’t your thing, maybe you’ll be lucky enough to experience the octopus carpaccio – an extremely time consuming and elusive menu item. The pulpo is tender and sweet, sliced into thin rounds with a tiny quail egg and crisp greens to add texture and richness.
If you’re into passing plates and experiencing a family style vibe – get the clams and mussels. The Thai coconut broth in the mussels is drinkable (I did it with no shame), and the class flavors of saffron and garlic with the clams makes you want to order a whole bowl for yourself. No shortage on bread for soppage, either.
Make sure to end with the classic mile high chocolate cake, or the cheesecake with berry compote. Completely decadent and easy to satisfy every sweet tooth!
