Chef Shake-Up: Alex McCoy Leaves Helm at Duke’s Grocery

The Chef running the helm at Duke’s Grocery, responsible for dishes such as the Katsu Curry, the cat-fish Bahn Mi with pate, and of course, The Proper (or Brunchie) Burger, has announced today he is the leaving the 17th Street hot-spot.

In a public Facebook post, Chef Alex McCoy writes,

“Friends, after a year and a half of working with my awesome partners over at Duke’s Grocery, I am excited to announce that I will be leaving to work on a new project in the DC area. You guys and gals have been legends and I appreciate all of the amazing support you have given myself and the Duke’s family. The team is still working hard in the Duke’s kitchen and the burgers are still flippin’! 2015 is going to be a very tasty year!”

HungryLobbyist.com has learned that Chef Alex will remain in the DC area, however he will be spending much time overseas learning, and planning, for his next steps here in the District. Could we see a new restaurant from Chef Alex in late 2015? One can only hope.

Until then, we wish Chef Alex the best, and we are confident in saying that the food, atmosphere, and quality at Duke’s Grocery will continue to thrive. We can’t wait to see what the new Chef at Duke’s has in store!
