Old Town favorite The Light Horse is honoring International Women’s Day (March 8th) all month long by showcasing wines from female winemakers as well as women-owned vineyards. Eight wines will be available by the glass showcasing rare New World and Old World varietals. Wines range in price from $7 to $15 per glass.
We tasted the Heron Chardonnay and Heron Cabernet Sauvignon from Laely Heron’s California vineyard. The Cab was fun and spicy! The Chardonnay was light and easy to drink. Some other highlights from the wine menu include a Vina Nora Albarino from Winemaker Eider Rodríguez in Portugal, a Pfeffingen Pinot Noir Blanc de Noir from Jan, Karin and Doris Eymael’s vineyard in Germany, and a Charbonniere Vacqueyras by Veronique and Caroline Maret who are fourth generation winemakers who oversee Châteauneuf-du-Pape, from the Rhône wine region of Southeastern France.
This is the perfect excuse to grab a group of girlfriends and do a little wine tasting in the eclectic dining room.
Of course with all the imbibing, a girl’s got to eat too and maybe check out the cocktail menu with offerings like The Pixie Rainbow Fancy Bubbles that features edible glitter! Get the Kira Kira out because she sparkles! Other standouts include the pate, bacon wrapped dates, and the pork loin.
