8 Things You Need To Check Off Of Your Summer Bucket List ASAP

With this new change in weather, we know that our favorite season is soon coming to a close. There is so much to do in DC all year round, but some things are special to summer.

Enjoying outdoor eats, sitting outside, summer cocktails, it’s seriously the best time of the year. So make sure you take advantage of all DC has to offer this next month.

Lick a Pleasant Pops Popsicle

pc: Pleasant Pops

You must try a Pleasant Pops popsicle while the sun is shining. The flavors change regularly but you can always try the classics like Cookies N Cream, Mexican Chocolate, or Hibiscus Pomegranate. While others are added in like currently a Blueberry Pancake (um, yum!) or Cinnamon Vanilla Peach (okkkk). For these hot summer days, get a pop.

Drink from an adult juice-box

Adult juice boxes are the new thing. (It’s more a pouch, but I’m not complaining). Calico had one of the first juice boxes found in DC. Simple options like the Blagden Rose – Lone Wolf Vodka, Passion Fruit, Pineapple, Cranberry or a Sassy Kitty with Timber Wolf Sassafras Gin, Element Grapefruit Vanilla Shrub, Green Tea, and honey.

Colada shop opened up their rooftop patio, making their adorable and vibrant Cuban cafe even cuter. The new rooftop patio feels like a secret garden full of couches, plants and string lights. The best addition – adult juice boxes. Again, more like cocktail pouches, but super tasty and satisfying.

Eat away the night at Truckeroo

If you are looking for a Friday evening date night spot, hang out activity with friends, or solo activity (more power to ya!) you can’t go wrong with Truckeroo. This food truck festival held at The Bullpen each month during the summer is coming to a close – catch the last one on September 28! 15 food trucks line The Bullpen from 4pm-11pm serving a huge variety of food accompanied by live music and of course drinks from the bar available. From lobster rolls, to gourmet fries, BBQ, pizza and ice cream sandwiches you can find ANYTHING you are in the mood for and more.

Spend a Morning Sampling a Farmers Market

The best way to spend your hungover weekend mornings is strolling around the FreshFarm farmers markets. You can actually fill up with the plethora of fruit samples offered. Enjoy some coffee, baked goods or prepared foods, or load up on your fresh ingredients for the week. Or just walk around and enjoy all the local ingredients and all the people who are willing to spend the money on them.

Check out all locations HERE.

Spend a Summer Friday at Farragut Square

Farragut Fridays are free all-day events held at Farragut Square all Friday long. The event is hosted by the Golden Triangle BID bringing together area workers, local residents, and visitors to enjoy fun and innovative activities throughout the entire day. There is music, kids activities, over 15 food trucks, and even an outdoor working space with tables, wifi and chargers.

Bring your laptop and spend a summer Friday at Farragut Square and you won’t get any work done because of all the people watching, but it will be worth it.

Stroll down CityCenterDC

Head down to CityCenterDC to enjoy the summer decorations before they change to fall. The overhead installation ofPalmer Alley beach balls is inspired by our nation’s patriotic colors. It’s perfectly summery.  Take a picture for Instagram, you won’t be the only one.
