This month, we got a first look at newcomer to Shaw: Unconventional Diner.
Opening today, Monday, December 18th, Unconventional Diner took over the space that was previously home to Old Dominion Brewery, and stepping into the airy and sunny spot, you’d never know it!
The brain child of chef David Deshaies (formerly the Executive Chef at Michel Richard’s Citronelle) and his partners, Unconventional Diner is an upscale traditional American diner featuring modern comfort food with unexpected dishes that you certainly wouldn’t find at your local steak n’ eggs joint.
The menu has a little something for everyone including Foie Gras PB & J, Pot Pie Tots, Chickpea Stew, Steak & Eggs, Meatloaf, and Kale Nachos (my personal favorite!).
The nearly 8,000 square foot space will be split into two parts: a 50-seat daytime cafe and pastry shop, which will offer a mix of grab-and-go and made-to-order items, and a 100-seat dinner-only, full-service dining room. They will also be offering a Happy Hour at the massive custom-made bar.
Here’s some of the best things we tasted:
