Chef Mikko’s passion for Nordic cooking comes alive in his new cafe in Dupont Circle. Chef Mikko spent 15 years as the Executive Chef for the Finnish Ambassador to the United States. During his time in D.C., he has cooked for a high-profile politicians, diplomats, royalty and more. Now you can try his dishes in a cute, casual, and super colorful cafe.
So what’s Nordic food like? It is simple and traditional. Each ingredient is used with purpose and truly shines through without being overpowered by anything else on the plate. It’s comforting and familiar to me as I grew up in a home where Eastern European influences played heavily into our meals.
On a sunny day, be sure to grab a seat at the patio and embark into a food adventure which must include the herring, smoked salmon, the fish or mushroom soup, and the venison that will appear on the menu when the weather gets little cooler.
