Southern cuisine with a focus on farm to table freshness has been the root of Hen Quarter’s success. With it’s first location on King Street in Old Town and a second location in downtown Silver Spring, it only made sense for the restaurant group to make a landing in D.C.
Located just around the corner from Jaleo, in the heart of Chinatown, Hen Quarter serves up comfort food amid a rustic farmhouse feel.
The menu features starters like deviled hen eggs and fried green tomatoes. Mains range from chicken and waffles to shrimp and grits. Feeling like something on the lighter side? Fresh kale salads topped with strawberries and other in-season favorites are also avaiable.
If you’re a fan of bourbon and boozy iced teas, be sure to take advantage of the cocktail menu. I sampled a few of the drinks and they were all perfectly situated for the raising temperatures. Cool, refreshing, and do not skimp on the good stuff.
