Taylor Gourmet has teamed up with chef Michael Schlow of Tico, The Riggsby, and Alta Strada, on a special edition hoagie with proceeds benefiting the Chance for Life childhood cancer charity. The sweet and spicy, mouthwatering Italian hoagie is named “Alta Strada” and is topped with roasted turkey and ham, fresh mozzarella, charred tomato, long hot peppers, lettuce, red onion, extra virgin olive oil, and vinaigrette.
Upon biting into this very generously stuffed hoagie, the first thing that stands out is the fresh mozzarella – it is soft and covered in delicious Italian herbs – if someone gave me a jar of this stuff….I shudder to think of the damage I would do.

The long hot peppers create the perfect spicy balance to the rich cheese and sweet vinaigrette that is quite literally Chef Michael’s secret sauce. As someone who only crosses the river to grab a slice of pizza and an Italian sub from The Italian Store in Arlington, this specialty hoagie really packs that same classic Italian punch with a much better commute.
