Spice Up Your Night (and Life) at Alfie’s…before it’s gone!

When I say I just had the best Thai meal in the city, I am not exaggerating. A little further north, not too far from the Petworth metro, is Alex McCoy’s prized pop-up restaurant, Alfie’s. Inspired by his own trip to Thailand, Alfie’s focuses on Northern and Isaan Thai street food. And boy, is it on point.

From Ramin Coles’s flavor punching dishes to Fabian Malone’s crafted cocktail menu, my taste buds were in for a ride. Starting with spicy papaya salad and pork neck that tasted like candy, then moving to coconut Thai noodle soup and succulent grilled chicken, I was stuffed by the end. Top that off with the “Dude, where’s my bikeshare” and “Whatever you do…don’t go in there!” cocktails, my only regret is that I didn’t come hungry enough.

We look forward to Alfie’s new home and the 39,459 other restaurants Chef McCoy has in the works! Keep up with him on the Twitters to literally keep up with him. He’s likely opened a new place by the time you’re done reading this!

Alfie’s offers you the choice between indoor (bar or tables) or outdoor seating in their patio. Right now, the patio might not seem desirable for these 95+ degree days, but it’s relaxed/casual vibe is perfect counterpart to this adventurous meal. I opted to sit at the bar, another good option for those wanting to be in the middle of all the mixologist action.

A pop-up now, Alfie’s will not be at this location much longer. Having had such success and rave reviews over the past half year, McCoy and his team are looking to find a permanent location soon. This is their last week on Georgia Ave NW, so don’t forget to get a reservation ASAP by clicking HERE.

If you can’t make it this week, don’t you fret. They will be announcing where their new home is soon. And for those in the Petworth area, this building will not be vacant for long either – A little birdy told me Po Boys are on the way.

Chai-yo! (Cheers)
