DC’s Summer Restaurant Week Starts August 13

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

DC’s Summer Restaurant Week will take place from August 13-17. The bi-annual promotion’s website www.RWDMV.com will be updated regularly with menus from each of the 250 participating restaurants in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. The site allows diners to peruse specially priced prix fixe menus and to search restaurants by cuisine and location before directly booking reservations.

Summer Restaurant Week is the perfect time to consider trying a new restaurant or to revisit an old favorite, with affordable menus offered throughout the region including $35 dinner, $22 lunch, and $22 brunch. With freshly opened restaurants in the region participating alongside established dining destinations, diners can dig into some of the best dishes in metropolitan Washington at a great price and explore the award-winning culinary scene that metropolitan Washington offers.

More than 40 restaurants will offer $22 brunch menus during Summer Restaurant Week on August 18 & 19, making it easier than ever for diners to get a great deal and indulge in the favorite weekend meal. Morning meals at restaurants featuring everything from Indian, Mediterranean, American, and French flavors will give diners a taste of metropolitan Washington’s eclectic international dining scene at a great fixed price.

I tried the restaurant week menus for three of DC’s favorite restaurants , and here’s what they have to offer:

Daikaya

Snack on fried cauliflower with tangy labne and edible flower dip.  Or keep up with the burrata trend with their take on the creamy cheese topped with mentaiko, California arbequina oil, orange zest and grilled bread.  Or maybe the

Like chips and dips? Try their “Chips & Dip” with light tangy dip and salmon roe with nori chips.

China Chilcano

Maybe you’re more of a Jose Andres fanatic? If so, check out one of his newer dining experiences at China Chilcano.  You can dive into the ceviche clasico la mar with red snapper, leche de tigre, sweet potato, red onion and cilantro.  It’s crisp and refreshing to beat those dog days of summer.

Maybe you love all things dumpling, like me. In that case chow down on the siu mai de pollo: a thin dumpling stuffed with chicken, scallion, mushroom and aji amarillo.

Ambar

Haven’t tried Balkan cuisine yet? Ambar has you covered.  From hearty salads and unique dips/spreads, this ultimate menu of “all you can eat” will satisfy every customer.

DO NOT miss out on their cheese pie, leek fritters, and classic Balkan salad.  Wash it all down with their sweet and crunch baklava.
