Movie Review: The Girl on the Train is a Must See!

I had the pleasure of attending an early screening of The Girl on the Train on Wednesday evening (thanks Cloture Club)! I read the book earlier this year and I have been anxiously awaiting the movie premiere ever since. While I am always hesitant to compare a movie to the book, The Girl on the Train went above and beyond.

The slow, steady build up of three interconnected stories led to a thrilling murder mystery that left you gasping as the truth became evident. Deception, lies, affairs, and a bit of alcohol keep you on the edge of your seat the entire movie. By the end, you cannot believe you missed the most obvious suspect.

It was a truly brilliant cast, led by the talented Emily Blunt (Rachel). Her acting enveloped you in the action, making you believe you were actually in her shoes. It was one of the best performances I have seen from Blunt. Supported by Allison Janey as Detective Sgt. Riley and Laura Prepon as Cathy, Rachel’s roommate, The Girl on the Train had a stellar female cast. Haley Bennett (Megan) and Rebecca Ferguson (Anna), making a splash with their bigger roles, balanced out the cast with grace and poise. I look forward to seeing more of their work.

Today (October 10th), The Girl On the Train officially opens in theaters. Grab your friends, family or significant other and head to see it. It’s too terrifying to watch by yourself!
