The Heat is ON at Bombay Street Food in Columbia Heights

Bombay Street Food has been open almost five months and is drawing a crowd much like the streets in Mumbai. The vibrant atmosphere and authentic Indian street food make it a destination for diners in DC.

A stand out for owner Asad Sheikh with this new restaurant is his deliberate use of spice, creating a particularly piquant story with the assertive flavors. Sweating or not, I could not stop diving in for more of these fiery dishes.

Some must order dishes include the Bombay thali, a two-person sampler platter; Bhel puri, a snack made with puffed rice and chutney; the A vada pav “potato burger” (one of Anthony Bourdain’s favorites, who you’ll find attributed on the walls); and the Indo-Chinese chicken in sweet and spicy tomato sauce.

Don’t skimp on the shrimp either – the tandoori shrimp is spicy and succulent.
