A “Revival” in Baltimore

Nestled in Baltimore’s historic and prestigious Mount Vernon neighborhood is a new hot spot for meals and adult beverages. Hotel Revival, a boutique hotel boasting 14 stories, is the place. As their website says, Hotel Revival “serves as a community gathering place, and contributes to the renewal of the area through a vibrant guest experience, thoughtful design, new restaurants and signature bars.” For all purposes here, we will put the emphasis on the new restaurants and bars: Topside and Square Meal.

In my opinion, the key to making the most of your visit is turning it into a progressive meal.  Start upstairs at Topside. Enjoy the scenic views of downtown Baltimore, snack on seafood-y bar bites, play a few board games, and sip from an incredible list of local beers, craft cocktails and wine.

Next, as a palette cleanser, relax in Topside’s Garden Bar. I couldn’t replicate a better description of this perfect room, so here’s what their team had to say: “It’s a breath of fresh air with a secret garden feel and tropical, lush plants and florals…The Garden Room is the perfect quiet retreat in the middle of a buzzing city. The Garden Room features custom cocktails and a tea service food display with non-traditional bites.” You green thumb millennials, this one’s for you!

To finish off your day, head downstairs to Square Meal, a dining experience with plush booths and a cozy feel. Enjoy locally sourced plates with an emphasis on veggies on their bar menu! Healthy and hearty.

I have one more bonus recommendation for this progressive meal, but you’ll have to scroll further down for that pro-tip. Now, enjoy the pictures of my experience!

We’ve just arrived – let the fun begin!
Practically a 360 degree view from every window.
“Why’d It Have To Be Snakes!” – one of the many fun cocktails offered!
The libation options are endless.
Onto a brewski in the garden room. Yes, they have a garden room. Continue to next photo.
I PLANT EVEN!!!
Headed downstairs to fill our bellies! The rose helps make tough decisions.
A sweet take on these baby carrots – mascarpone and white chocolate underneath!
Kale Caesar, can’t go wrong.
THE Ro “Faux” Box – fried quail, house made pickles, and a warm, flaky biscuit.
Finishing it off with some Goat Ricotta Gnudi. Extra garlicky, yum.
